'A Day in the life of Friendship'

A Documentary Photographic Profile By Samantha Kingston

The following document of photos were initially inspired by those who are around me, my university life is happy and exciting due to the people that I share my experiences with. University is one of the places that you will meet friends who you will consider friends for the rest of your life. People that inspire you, people that love and laugh and are full of life. This is a document of love and friendship of my peers around me, without them my university experience would not be as special.

'Too early to have a lecture...Nope, I believe it started half an hour ago!'

'Admitting they have no idea what they are doing- then trying to contain laughter'

'Getting back to the social world, why speak when we can text'

'Continuously falling off her chair- the floor is much more confortable anyways'

'A disagreement between friends- now creating a tense atmosphere to what seemed to have been a pleasant afternoon'

'Time for a Goodbye- but we always have tomorrows lecture'

Eyes!

Can eyes makes us feel different emotions and feeling? I believe eyes draw us into photos, depending on the subject or the idea around a photo, I believe they can form great impact upon us.

Finding reality in a very posed world!

With websites like facebook becoming more and more of a way of documenting our day to day life, I decided to use it as a starting point, or even as a point of research to look at the photos which we put on there. I took the task of looking through my own photos and selecting some that were taken of me, either when I was not aware that a photo was being taken or being caught out. Profile Pictures are usually seen as what we want the world to see us as, so it is usually unlikely for someone to put up a photo of themeselves that they don't like or are not looking their best. The pictures below are some of which I would not normally have as a profile picture as they are 'Un-posed' shall we say, however after looking at them I can feel a real emotion in each one. This is the reality that I want to express in my own photos.

SNAPSHOT!!

I am finding the idea of 'Capturing Reality' truly exciting and fascinating! I love photos, looking at photos and enjoying them (as well as taking them). Therefore I think this module will be very enjoyable, sharing these feelings with friends is even better.

Lets hope we find real beauty and happiness in the photos we take over the course of this module.
